siberian cats
A guest doesn't like cats,
I suppress my nerves,
But I forgive him,
For I understand it:
As staying with the cat
In close intimacy,
Could be contracted
With inferiority complex.

The power and grace at the same time
And independence,
Excellent health

„Entirely natural breed which originated in distant Siberia which is famous for cold winters and tough weather conditions. Due to the qualities of this regions - human, practically, made no contribution to the creation of this breed. It has emerged in harmony with nature, without human interference. It was only a few years ago that any breeding program has been commenced, and barely in 1998 this breed was officially registered by FIF. Owing to this, Siberian cats are still characterized by the virtues of their ancestors - they are resistant to illnesses, intelligent, and they easily adapt to new conditions - including human flats. Siberian cats have also inherited from their ancestors the love to climbing, hence the highest position in a flat is their favourite observation point.

Siberian cat is a semi-longhair, muscular, strong, and of medium size cat. Tomcats are decisively bigger than catkins. Catkins weigh 4 - 5 kg, whereas tomkins' weight reaches 7 - 8 kg. There happen specimens that weigh even 10 kg. They acquire physical maturity in the age of 2-4 years.

HEAD if of medium size, it is characterized by bulging cheeks, strong cheekbones, and rounded chin line. The strong, lightly convex forehead harmonizes with the shape of the head.

NOSE is long, slightly convex, however without recess at the base.

EYES are large, slightly oval, a little oblique, and widely spaced. The eye colour should be homogenous and it is usually green or amber. Nevertheless, the green colour is more appreciated. As far as Neva Masquarade cats are concerned, the eye colour is intensely blue.

EARS are slightly tilted forward, a bit convex and widely spread. The ear tips should be rounded and usually with longer hair tufts at the tip of the ear.

COAT. A Siberian cat has a fur that is typical of forest cats. Semi-longhair is strong and gently adhere to the body. Thick and soft coating gives them the furriness and softness in touch. Such a fur makes it possible for those cats to live in the cold and harsh climatic conditions. Characteristic for this breed are fluffy "trousers" on the rear legs, abundant "Bib" on the chest and a long, densely hairy, tail. The fur may be a bit shorter on the back of the neck and shoulder. However, the fur is longer and thicker on the back. The fur protects cats from adverse climatic conditions. Hence, it is thicker and longer during the winter whereas on summer it becomes much shorter.

TAIL is long, rounded at the tip and it doesn't moult during the summer. Hair on the tail is evenly arranged in the so-called brush to dust.

LIMBS. the body is lengthened, whereas hind legs are slightly longer than the front. Limbs are of medium length, they are strong with typical tufts of hair between the toes to protect feet against snow and moisture.

A Siberian cat has a coat of natural agouti coloration (the variety of natural wild cat's coat, where on every hair occur hoops and/or dots of colour) in all its tabby forms, tortie, and in black, red, blue, creamy, silvery, white, etc. As well as other forest cats, there are lots of white Siberian cats. In the variant of the Siberian Cat Neva Masquerade there are typical traits on ears, paws, and tail. As far as Siberian cats are concerned, they mustn't be criss-crossed with any other race. Comparing Siberian cats with other, similar breeds, it is noticeable that Maine Coon cats are much more compact and angular, while Norwegian cats are more slender and longer.”

„Behind their outer calm lies self confidence and strength. Nevertheless, despite their strong character, Siberian cats easily get along with other animals. They like both playing and children, they are ingratiating and loyal to the owner. Almost every Siberian cat has hilarious habit - they love caresses when they lie on their back, sometimes adopting various poses. The character of Siberian cats is very attractive for the people who are able to appreciate the sense of their's and others' dignity. As Siberian cats are ingratiating and affectionate, they can perfectly capture the smallest changes in mood. Innate sense of tact will not allow your pet to insistently demand your attention, especially when you are just busy with something else. However, when you are in a good mood, Siberian cat will call for some caresses.”
